Thanks to its considerable sub-meridional extent, the Urals is the unique geographical region from the viewpoint of combination of landscapes, richness of entrails, flora and fauna. This area is not only the natural border between Europe and Asia, but "tightens” so different worlds of the North and South, East and West. For centuries the Ural region attracted the man by its strategic sources of raw materials and its possibility to adapt to changes in environment and to have multi-branch economy. Border position of the Urals predetermined, on the one side, its numerous contacts; on the other side, there was not only accumulation of cultural traditions but formation of new cultural impulses. During different epochs aims and character of cultural ties of the Ural population had changed, but the importance of the Urals for the processes of culturegenesis of peoples of the Northern Eurasia had been the same for the whole period sources from the Upper Paleolith to the period of the Russian colonization of the area. Some of them are analyzed in this article.
